Ticket sales at the point of sale and ticket scanning at the entrance

Sell admission tickets with the same POS you use for drinks, food and merchandise. Every ticket gets a unique code, which you scan at the entrance with the camera of a phone or tablet, or with a barcode scanner.

In short

With the Count-IT ticket module you create events with ticket types, each with its own price, time slot, sales period and quantity. You sell the tickets at the point of sale, print them on the receipt printer or as a label with a QR code, and scan them at the entrance: Count-IT immediately sees whether a ticket is valid, already scanned or returned.

  • Ticket buttons appear on the POS automatically while the sales period runs
  • Scanning with camera or barcode scanner, with an alert for repeated use
  • Sold and scanned per event in one overview

How do ticket sales work in Count-IT?

In Count-IT you first create an event with a name and a start and end time. Within the event you set up one or more ticket types, called ticket groups in Count-IT, such as a day ticket, an evening ticket or a child ticket. For each ticket type you set the price, the time slot the ticket is valid for, the period in which you sell it, the period in which you scan it and the number of tickets available.

As soon as the sales period starts, the ticket types appear as buttons on the POS, optionally grouped per event. At checkout Count-IT creates a unique ticket with its own code for every ticket sold. You print it on the receipt printer or on a label with a QR code. Because the tickets go on the same receipt as other products, you charge an admission ticket and a drink in one go.

This makes the ticket module suitable for event venues, trade fair and exhibition venues that also have a bar or restaurant, museums and attractions. If you combine tickets with the hospitality POS, you handle admission and catering with one system, one register and one end-of-day close.

Features

From ticket sales to access control

Everything you need to sell and check admission tickets.

Events and ticket types

Create several ticket types per event, each with its own name, price and time slot. Set the number of tickets available, or leave it at 0 for unlimited. When a ticket type is sold out, the POS blocks further sales.

Selling at the point of sale

Ticket types automatically appear as buttons on the POS during their sales period. You sell them on the same receipt as other products and take payment by card, cash or another payment method.

Printing with a QR code

Print tickets on the receipt printer or as a label on a label printer. In the label template you choose which details appear: event, ticket type, time slot, price, code and QR code. A PDF is also possible.

Scanning at the entrance

Open the scan screen for an event on a phone, tablet or PC and scan with the camera, a barcode scanner or both. The screen shows straight away whether the ticket is valid. Optionally, scanning also works during an internet outage; this needs to be set up in advance.

Preventing repeated use

If a ticket has already been scanned, Count-IT tells you when, how long ago and by which employee. An invalid code, a ticket for another event or a returned ticket is also refused.

Returning tickets

Take a ticket back at the point of sale by entering the ticket code. This is only possible as long as the ticket has not been scanned; after that the ticket is invalid.

Overview and reporting

See per event how many tickets have been sold compared with the number available, and how many have already been scanned. The ticket sales report shows the quantities sold per event and ticket type for a period, also as a PDF.

Together with hospitality

Tickets and food and drink go through the same POS, the same receipt and the same end-of-day close. VAT follows the ticket product you choose in the financial settings.

How it works

An event in four steps

  1. Set up

You create the event with ticket types, prices, sales period and the number of tickets.

  2. Sell

At the point of sale you tap the ticket type and take payment; Count-IT creates a unique code for each ticket.

  3. Print

The ticket comes out of the receipt printer or the label printer, with the QR code you scan at the entrance.

  4. Scan

At the entrance you scan the ticket; a second scan of the same ticket is refused.

To be honest

What Count-IT does not do (yet)

So you know in advance whether it fits.

  • You sell tickets at the point of sale. There is no online ticket shop where visitors buy tickets themselves.
  • There are no numbered seats or seating plans for seat reservations.
  • A receipt with tickets cannot be put on hold; charge tickets straight away.
Frequently asked questions

Questions about ticket sales and scanning

Can I sell tickets with my POS system?

Yes. With the ticket module you create events and ticket types, which appear as buttons on the POS during the sales period. At checkout each ticket gets a unique code, and you print it on the receipt printer or as a label.

How do I scan tickets at the entrance?

Open the event's scan screen on a phone, tablet or PC. Choose whether you scan with the camera, with a barcode scanner or with both. Count-IT shows straight away whether the ticket is valid, whether it has already been scanned and, if so, when and by whom. Optionally, scanning also works during an internet outage, if this has been set up in advance.

Can a ticket be used twice?

No. On the first scan Count-IT records the time and the employee. If the same ticket is scanned again, you get a message that it has already been scanned.

Can I use different ticket types and prices?

Yes. Per event you create several ticket types, for example a day ticket and a child ticket, each with its own price, time slot, sales period and number of tickets available.

Can I print tickets as labels?

Yes. Create a label template for tickets with the details you want, such as event, ticket type, time slot, price and QR code, and choose the label printer and template in the POS settings. You can also print tickets on the receipt printer. See hardware for the printers you can use.

Can a visitor return a ticket?

Yes, as long as the ticket has not been scanned. You take it back at the point of sale by entering the ticket code. The ticket then gets the status returned and is refused when scanned.

How do I see how many tickets have been sold?

In the events overview you see per event the number of tickets sold compared with the number available, and how many tickets have already been scanned. Once all tickets of a ticket type have been sold, the POS blocks further sales. The ticket sales report gives the quantities per event and ticket type for a period. Read more about figures under reports.

Is the ticket module included in Light or Full?

No. The ticket module is a separate add-on that you take in addition to your plan, Light or Full. Get in touch if you would like to add the ticket module.
